A forthcoming webinar from FlavorWiki will examine how food and beverage businesses can better predict consumer preferences and use connected data to make faster, more informed product-development decisions.
Consumers expect products that deliver on taste, price and their individual preferences, but identifying which attributes will ultimately influence purchasing decisions remains a significant challenge for food and beverage innovation teams.
On Thursday 15 October at 2:30pm BST, FlavorWiki will host the free webinar “Predict Better. Innovate Faster.”, exploring how consumer insights, sensory data and R&D can be brought together to better understand the trade-offs that shape product preference and purchase.
The session will use a simulated innovation journey and three predictive case studies to demonstrate how connected consumer and sensory data can reveal which product changes are likely to improve scores, where investment may have limited impact and how individual studies can contribute to a reusable product-intelligence system.
Rather than treating consumer research as a series of isolated projects, the webinar will consider how organisations can build on data generated through previous studies to inform future product-development decisions.
Bringing consumer insight closer to R&D
The session will be led by Daniel Protz, Founder and CEO of FlavorWiki and Global Product Insights (GPI), and Marcia Young, Consumer Science & R&D Advisor at FlavorWiki GPI.
Protz works with food and beverage businesses to connect consumer, sensory and in-market data with product decision-making. His work focuses on the practical application of software, machine learning and reusable data assets to help reduce research friction without compromising research quality.
Young brings four decades of consumer science and R&D experience across businesses including Campbell’s, Kraft and Mondelez. Her work has covered global innovation, renovation, cost reduction and research harmonisation.
The webinar will explore both the technology and practitioner perspectives, including how predictive analytics can create value while retaining the human judgement required within consumer science and R&D.
For food safety, quality and product-development professionals, the discussion also raises a broader question: how can businesses make better use of the consumer and product data they already generate, rather than starting from scratch with every new study?
