The ongoing investigation into McDonald's E. Coli outbreak, potentially linked to onions in their Quarter Pounder burgers, has confirmed Taylor Farms as the onion supplier. The outbreak has so far made 75 people ill and led to one death, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA has not confirmed the slivered onions as the definite source of E. Coli, but Taylor Farms has nonetheless issued a voluntary recall of their onions.

Several restaurant chains have taken precautionary measures as a response to this outbreak, with Yum! Brands Inc. pulling fresh onions from select locations of several restaurants, including Taco Bell and KFC.

The extent of this outbreak and its implications across the food industry have once again highlighted the importance of traceability of ingredients.
