Both the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have not disclosed the romaine lettuce company responsible for an E.Coli outbreak, despite knowing the grower's name.

The E.Coli outbreak in late 2024 made 89 people ill and caused 1 death, across 15 states in the United States. In reports obtained by Food Safety News, it is now understood that the same romaine lettuce grower was responsible for another outbreak in 2021.

Both agencies are aware of who the lettuce grower is, but will not disclose this information, despite Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr's promise of "radical transparency".

All names of companies which had handled the implicated lettuce have been redcated from the FDA report. The FDA states the company's name does not need to be shared publicly because the implicated lettuce had already been removed from being on sale by the time the investigation had been completed.

You can read more findings from the report here.
