Yesterday (4 August 2024) the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reported that Nestle Canada Inc. had recalled certain Gerber brand baby cereal.

According to agency’s recall notice, testing showed Cronobacter in Oat Banana & Mango Baby Cereal.

The CFIA is currently doing a food safety investigation and making sure that Nestle removes its Gerber brand baby cereal from sale.

The contaminated cereals were distributed online in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan, but may have been distributed in other territories too.

No illnesses have been confirmed so far, but consumers are urged to stop using the food product as Cronobacter infections can have fatal consequences.
