Advancements in the various disciplines of technology have made it a critical and valid reality to adopt them and keep the business in sustainable shape. In manufacturing business, transitioning to a smart factory model brings crucial benefits to modern manufacturing: Increased Operational Efficiency: Integration of IoT, AR, AI, and machine learning leads to streamlined processes, reducing downtime, increasing output, and enhancing productivity. However, the significance of manpower cannot be underrated or ignored. Whatever the level of advanced technology is employed in the business, it is always planned and executed through manpower working at different levels such as senior management, middle management and lower management-line staff. Among the three levels of management, middle management serves as a link between senior management and lower management. However, studies through search engines suggest that this is one of the areas organisations give lesser attention to and it results in failure or delay in project completion. Importance of middle management role

Middle managers can play a key role in driving cultural change within an organization:

  • Disseminators of top-down initiatives

Middle managers are responsible for communicating the goals/objectives of the upper management to their teams.

  • Voices of the line/floor workforce

Middle managers can provide feedback to the senior management that can help in decision-making based on valid information and ground realities.

  • Change intermediaries

Middle managers can help enact top-level changes across operational divisions. Their support and buy-in can influence the success of change initiatives.

  • Change champions

Middle managers can lead their teams through transformation by coaching and training, inspiring confidence, encouraging creativity, and valuing every idea.

  • Culture creators

Middle managers can ensure their teams feel important to their input, valued and supported, and drive towards a specific goal.
